The usually very well informed Mercedes-Fans.de website published an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that shows artist renderings of a A-class sedan. The story behind the pictures is that Mercedes is planning to build the fourth front wheel drive derivative in Mexico. Nissan already has a facility there, and with reports suggesting that the Aguascalientes factory could receive an upgrade in capability and capacity as part of a deepened Nissan/Daimler relationship it all sounds rather reasonable.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The question would be what role the rumored A-class sedan takes in the lineup. The CLA is a four-door as well and had relative success. Maybe the sedan could be the cheaper, less stylish entry level car for new Mercedes customers? Or maybe Daimler is trying to cover the BRIC markets lust for premium sedans?

For people who want a CLA but don't like the looks.

Certainly looks better than the one out now, but still not as elegantly designed as it could be.

A car for people who are actually shaped like people and don't need to be a hunchback to fit in the back of a CLA. Seriously, I'm only 5ft 7in and I don't fit in the back of a CLA.

It looks like they smashed a Passat rear end and an Accord rear end together until they formed one rear, and then stapled it to the back of a CLA.

This makes little sense to me. The CLA is already an A-Class sedan, how is this thing any different? From a European perspective it makes far more sense to create an A-Class wagon. They'd sell a ton of them here.

Needs three-spoke wheels so every round part looks like the emblem. The ladies leasing them in the trailer parks will eat that up.

A CLA Shooting Break is due to come out later this year/early 2015, so they got that covered. The prototypes look very ready:

That's the only possible explanation I can come up with, a practical, cheaper, less lifestyle orientated sedan that would be more popular in Russia, Braszil, China and India.

I like the rear a lot, but the front end doesn't work all that well with it. I'd rather see a GLA type front end.

Is that real? The proportions seem wrong, the ass end is too small for the rest of the vehicle.

Or people who want back seats that passengers can actually fit in without sitting like this:

The CLA should've been a full blown 2 door coupe not a 4 door coupe. The back seats are terribly small and the low roofline does not help at all.

Oh great now they're gonna rape Nissan too.

Your telling me that's not how people normally sit?
